this is Keepsake, a little app that brings back the videos you can’t film again.

When a SD card gets formatted or a USB stick gets written over, recovery tools look for the start of each file. Keepsake reads what’s left in the middle, and finds footage PhotoRec and DMDE walk right past.

First, stop using the drive

Anything new saved to it can overwrite what you’re trying to rescue. Don’t format it, even if Windows asks.

Can it damage my drive?

No. It only reads. Recovered videos always go to a different drive, and a safety copy mode reads failing drives just once.

Why administrator permission?

Reading a drive underneath its files and folders is how deleted video gets found. Windows only allows that for administrators.

Already tried Recuva or PhotoRec?

Try this next. Those find files by their first few bytes. When the start is gone, they can’t see the file at all.

Mac?
